ELMHURST CHAMBER NAMES ZAWASKI AS AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR

ELMHURST, Ill., December 2, 2013 – John Zawaski of Dependable Business Forms will be honored as 2013 Ambassador of the Year at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 95th Annual Awards and Talent Showcase at the Waterford Banquet and Conference Center on Friday, January 31, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Zawaski is the first three-time recipient of this award, which is presented annually to a member of the green-coated Chamber Ambassadors for his/her outstanding service.  He also was named Ambassador of the Year in 1996 and 2000.

            “John is just a people person who understands what being active in a chamber is all about,” said John R. Quigley, the Chamber’s President and CEO since 1999.

Zawaski is the President of Dependable Business Forms, the promotional products company that he founded nearly 40 years ago.  He joined the Chamber in July of 1985 and has served as an Ambassador for the past 21 years.

 Zawaski recently completed his second two-term stint on the ECCI Board of Directors as an elected Director (2000-06 and 2007-13), serving a dozen years over the recent 13-year period.  He is a sixth-year member of the Chamber’s Ways and Means Committee and also has served on the Membership Committee (2001-08).

Also active in the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce, Zawaski served on the
now-defunct Elmhurst Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) as a member of the not-for-profit’s Board of Directors and Membership Committee.

Zawaski is a long-time member of the Noon Rotary Club of Elmhurst, with service as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President.  He also served on the Fundraising Committee of the Elmhurst YMCA, and was Nation Chief for the Indian Guides and Trailblazers.

A former 30-year Elmhurst resident, he resides in Villa Park.

            Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber’s mission is to promote an environment that creates success for local businesses and our community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
