Looks Like a New Bank May Be Coming to Elmhurst

Lakeside Bank operates six branches in Chicago.

A bank with six branch locations in Chicago is looking to expand its presence to the suburbs by setting up shop in Elmhurst, according to a conditional use application submitted to the city's Community Development Department.

Lakeside Bank is applying for conditional use permit for a drive-through and a variance for signage. Its request will be heard by the city's Zoning and Planning Commission this Thursday.

The location of the new bank would be the current site of Ron's Marathon Station, at the northeast corner of Robert Palmer Drive and South York Road, according to the request.

The city's comprehensive plan designates the property as medium density residential, and it is surrounded by condominiums and townhomes. The property is located within the C4 Central Business District. Bank use is permitted in this area, but the drive-through requires a conditional use permit.

The applicant also would like a 27.75-foot sign; current use calls for a maximum of 20 feet, according to the request, which goes before Elmhurst's Zoning and Planning Commission at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at City Hall, 209 N. York St.
