How did the business come to be?

Edwin Foust's wife Jane was being treated for chemical sensitivity, (MCS), by Dr. Theron Randolph in his Chicago clinic that specilaized in treating this disease. Mr. Foust developed air purifers made completely from steel, since plastics are not good for people with MCS. Over the course of the years since 1974 the company has continued the Foust philosophy of making or selling products that would reduce toxins in people's lives.

In additon to the air purifers made in Elmhurst, the company now carries water filters, HVAC filters, environmentally safe paint, stains, sealers, caulks, adhesives, cleaning products and personal care products. The Foust website went live in 1998, and information about products can be accessed there. 

Why did you choose the area you did?

The E. L. Foust Co. philosphy has been to always make or sell products that would not introduce toxins into people's homes, offices, schools or hospitals. Due to Mrs. Foust's illness back in the 1970s, the company was dedicated to helping any person that may suffer from MCS, allergy, asthma, autism or other toxic issues.

Inc. offers its own brand of high quality air purifiers and the following name-brand safe products: AFM SafeCoat, SafeChoice, Earth Friendly ECOS products, Magick Botanicals, Solutions 4 You, Franmar, Dennyfoil, ShurTape, 3M, E-Z-1 Lubricant, Nilfisk, Skuttle, Multi-Pure, Hurley, Sprite, Phenoseal by DAP, Trion, Spaceguard, Koch filters, Filtration Group, Aerostar, Therma-stor and Kimberly-Clark.
