Eat and Earn for Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry

When you dine at Francesca's Amici in Elmhurst, 10 percent of your pre-tax bill will be donated to the Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry.

Tough economic times are impacting EWIM; The number of clients coming for help is up and revenue is down.

Founded 15 years ago, the nonprofit organization helps Elmhurst residents and families with children in any Elmhurst school in need of assistance with rent/mortgage payments, utility costs, gas and car repairs.

“With the economy putting stress on so many local families hit by unemployment or family illness, our volunteers have been extremely busy this year helping clients. This has put a strain on us financially, and our funds are currently at a three-year low. We have seen a 11 percent increase in clients in the last year while our incoming donations have dropped about 16 percent,” said Mary Mallon, president of EWIM.

An easy and most enjoyable way to help EWIM is to attend one or all of three Eat-and-Earn events. The other two are  again at Francesca's May 3, and at Egg Harbor on May 23, and.
