Elmhurst Residents Now Have a New Place to Take Their Creaky Joints

Athletico managing physical therapist is an Elmhurst College graduate.

Elmhurst residents in pain from an accident, sports injury or everyday activities now have a new resource with the opening of Athletico Physical Therapy, 111 W. Third St.

Athletico Elmhurst offers physical therapy, sports medicine, work rehabilitation, work conditioning and women’s health therapy services, including pre- and post-natal care and treatment of sacroiliac joint dysfunctions. Transportation services are also available.

Elmhurst resident Jen Camden, doctor of physical therapy, is manager and treating physical therapist for the Elmhurst facility. Camden earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Elmhurst College. She received her doctorate in physical therapy from Rosalind Franklin University of Health and Sciences. Camden has been with Athletico for 11 years, at the Lisle and Bannockburn facilities.

“I fell in love with the Elmhurst community while attending Elmhurst College," said Camden, who played softball for the Bluejays for four years. "The strong sense of community and tight-knit nature that Elmhurst displays, coupled with its central location, made Elmhurst the ideal spot for my husband and I to live and raise our family.”

Camden’s interest in becoming a physical therapist began in high school while recovering from a shoulder injury. She worked closely with a physical therapist and grew to love the field.

“Being a physical therapist allows me to treat many different types of conditions and challenges me to adapt treatment protocols and take an active role in helping others achieve their rehabilitation goals,” she said.

Her specialties include treating SI joint dysfunctions, pre- and post-natal patients, and overhead athletes.

"I love that each work day brings new challenges, allows me to meet and work with different types of people, and is rewarding and fun.”

Athletico Elmhurst provides:

  • A third-party outcomes system to provide measurable data on a patient’s progression that is discussed throughout the course of treatment
  • Patient satisfaction reporting throughout treatment to better understand and respond to patient needs while they are still receiving rehabilitation services, rather than after a patient is discharged
  • Early morning, evening and Saturday hours
  • Scheduling of initial evaluations within 24-48 hours of the patient’s phone call
  • Patient education on diagnosis, treatment plans and prescribed home-exercise programs
  • Clear, consistent communication between therapist, physician and patient

For more information or to schedule a complimentary injury screening, call Jen Camden at (630) 415-3040 or email her at jcamden@athletico.com.
