York's Emma Fisher Ends Her Senior Year on a High Note With Third All-state Medal for Track

York's 800 relay comes in seventh at state.

York High School senior Emma Fisher won her third all-state track medal at the Class 3A state tournament held May 17 and 18 at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium in Charleston. Fisher was third in the 3,200 (10:41.42) and sixth in the 1,600 (4:58.62). She was fifth in the 3,200 (10:48.61) at the 2012 state meet.

Fisher joins 1987 graduate Mary Beth Driscoll and 2001 graduate Maria Cicero as the only girl runners in York history to earn all-state honors at one state meet in the "distance double," the 3,200/1,600 combo. Driscoll did it three times and Cicero twice, winning both races as a senior in 2001. Driscoll's best combined finishes were third in the 3,200 and fourth in the 1,600 as a senior. Driscoll also was third in the 3,200 as a freshman.

The 800 relay of Marissa Sparks, Shante' Dansby, Josiey Jelinek and Emily Simo was seventh (1:42.19) at last week's state tournament. It was the first all-state track medal for the relay members. This is only the third all-state 800 relay in York program history and the first since 1985.
