Immigrant Solidary DuPage to Speak at AAUW Meeting

The Elmhurst Area AAUW will meet on Wednesday, April 11 at 7:00pm at the Elmhurst Public Library.

Members of Immigrant Solidarity DuPage, a Wheaton-based Latino an Immigrant rights organization, will discuss the realities of Latinas and the local Latino population in DuPage County, along with discussing immigration to DuPage County. Immigrant Solidarity DuPage  was founded in 2007 in Glendale Heights to combat the abuses of police racial profiling, labor abuse, housing discrimination and scapegoating by local elected officials. It seeks to empower the Latino community by initiating an energetic outreach campaign of educational forums, workshops, press conferences, rallies, cultural events and other mobilizations. The group also has answered calls from all over Chicagoland to aid and support Latino workers and their families in many personal and collective struggles.

The meeting is open to the public.  AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, philanthropy, education and research.   For more information see www.aauwelmhurst.org.
