Barbara Gilleece's Party Patter/Graduation Party Tips

Graduation party tips

The graduation season is upon us. Here are some ideas to create that special day.

Set the time and date, and plan your party budget. If your budget is a concern, why not have a double graduation party with a friend? Pick a theme as simple as school colors or as detailed as a college major. For high school graduations where alcohol is a concern why not make party mocktails? The ingredients can be purchased at your local grocery store.

Looking for a graduation centerpiece ideas? Last week I used cardboard hats I purchased online. Put a hat in the center of each table and place the floral arrangement on top. Make sure you secure the hat for the weight of the arrangement. You can make your own floral piece by purchasing the flowers at your local grocery store, or use a professional florist.

Another easy centerpiece idea is to make copies of the graduate's diploma. Tie them with ribbon in the school colors and place on the guest tables.

Oh , and don't forget you will need a card box. That's simple: Find a box, wrap it and put a slit in the middle, and you have your own, personlized card holder.

Lastly, take the  hassle out of your party by employing some help, such as a party server. That will give you freedom to enjoy your party. Party servers will help serve your food, maintain your buffet and clean everything up. There are a few agencies in the western suburbs that can provide this service for you.

So go ahead- pick a theme and, of course have fun !
