One Night Only: 'Edges' Features Performances by York Drama Alumni

Tickets on sale at the York Auditorium Box Office.

York alumni will return to their high school stage, where their passion for the arts began, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 14. The group of talented York graduates will perform in a one-night-only production of the touching song cycle, "Edges," written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The show is being directed by Keith Potts (Class of 2009) who recently received his bachelor's of fine arts in musical theatre from The Boston Conservatory.

“The York performing arts program ignited a passion in me that was undeniable,” Potts said. “Like the other students performing in “Edges,” I have become completely immersed in what was once an extra-curricular activity.”

In addition to directing, Potts will perform in "Edges," along with Michael St. Peter (The Julliard School, vocal performance), Jack McFarlane (Ball State University, musical theater), Kelsey Roberts (Syracuse University, musical theater), Melanie Hughes (Bachelor of science in music education from University of Illinois) and Julie Peterson (The Boston Conservatory, musical theater).

Other York alumni who have gone on to pursue their interests in theater also are involved in producing this special summer show, including movement director Caitlin McManus (Illinois Wesleyan, theater); stage manger Emily Knopf (studying stage management at Western Michigan) and assistant stage manager Helen Knudsen (Roosevelt University, vocal performance).

“York is home,” said Roberts about the summer show. “No matter where we go or where we end up, we know that we can always come back here, to the place that helped shaped so much of what we are today."

"I feel like performing in 'Edges' brings the experience of performing at York full circle," St. Peter said.

Seating is reserved and advanced ticket sales will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 11, at the York Auditorium Box Office. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. This production is recommended for high school age and up.

The evening continues after the performance in the York Commons with jazz entertainment, dessert and a silent auction to benefit York Student Enrichment Team.
