Sweet's Civil War Encampment

History Comes Alive!!! Sweet's Civil War Encampment this October 22-23 at the Common and Sheldon Peck Homestead in Lombard. It is going to be a fun filled weekend our hosting units are the 8th Reg't Veteran Reserve Corps and Stanford's Battery in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. The encampment will feature drills, living history demonstrations like rope and butter making, there will be pioneer games, a skirmish on Saturday at 2:00 and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m, sutlers, a pig roast dinner on Saturday which is a fundraiser for the Historical Society, live music performed by Plank Road Folk Music Society on Saturday from noon-2:00 and much, much, more.The event opens to the public at Noon and is FREE. There is an additional charge for the pig roast and tickets are available for purchase at 20 West on St. Charles Rd. $20 for Adults and $15 for children.
