You’re invited to come to Elmhurst Art Museum on Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00 to 7:15 PM for an evening of creative fun as we explore The Planets, a vivid musical work of incredible power and color by composer Gustav Holst.  Taking our inspiration from the music, we will create a mobile of our solar system, learning about each of the planets as we go along.  This workshop is designed for families with children ages six and up.  Space is limited, so please register by calling the Museum at (630) 834-0202, ext.116 no later than October 26.  A nominal fee of $5.00 per family will be collected upon registration to help cover the cost of supplies.

Your artwork will be kept for display at the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra concert, “A Planetary Excursion,” at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church on Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 PM, which will feature The Planets as well as John Williams’ Star Wars Suite, in which Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia all come to life in glorious music.  This intense musical experience is sure to transport you to a galaxy far, far away!  NASA Astronaut Daniel M. Tani will make a special guest appearance at the concert.  Call 630-941-0202 or visit www.elmhurstsymphony.org for information and to purchase concert tickets. The art created for the concert will be returned to workshop participants by mail at the end of November.
