Elmhurst College Spring Student Art Exhibition

For the first time, Elmhurst College’s Spring Student Exhibition will be a juried event, with art students displaying work in all media, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design and digital art.

Joel Sheesley, artist and chairman of the Department of Art at Wheaton College, will be the distinguished juror for the exhibit.  Prizes will be awarded:  $100 for Best of Show, $75 for first prize and $50 for second prize.

The exhibition will be held from Thursday, March 29, through Thursday, April 12, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center.

“I am thrilled to have Joel Sheesley as the juror for this student exhibition. He is an outstanding artist,” said Suellen Rocca, curator and director of exhibits at Elmhurst College. Last fall, the College hosted Sheesley’s Trekking Stubborn exhibit of large-scale paintings.

A public reception will be held on Tuesday, April 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Founders Lounge. Sheesley will offer comments on the works starting at 5:00 p.m. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

The Frick Center hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to midnight. For more information, contact Suellen Rocca at (630) 617-6110 or srocca@elmhurst.edu.
