Elmhurst Children's Theatre presents "Aladdin Jr."

Elmhurst, IL – Flying carpets, a wise-cracking genie, and a magic lamp are all part of the fun when Elmhurst Children's Theatre presents the musical "Aladdin" March 4 - 6 at Bryan Middle School in Elmhurst. ECT's production brings to life the story of a poor street rat named Aladdin who falls in love with Jasmine, a beautiful princess who is required to marry a prince. When Aladdin accidentally rubs a mysterious lamp, the adventures begin.

Directed by Emily Dugan, with musical direction by Michelle Maiers, this magical one-hour romp promises to delight children and adults alike with its catchy melodies and charming comedy. "What's great about this show is how fun and accessible it is," says Dugan. "With the incredible energy of this amazing-sounding cast and Disney's much-loved music and story, the audience is going to have a hard time keeping from jumping up and playing along!"

The show is performed by talented 5th through 8th graders who attend Elmhurst schools. "Rehearsing for 'Aladdin' has been so much fun," says Ashlyn Kelley, an 8th grader at Bryan Middle School who plays a harem girl. "In every ECT play I’ve been in, the cast has become like a second family." Elmhurst Children's Theatre has been bringing first-rate children's productions to the Elmhurst community for more than 60 years.
