On exhibit are Joel Sheesley’s elegant, large-scale paintings which offer the possibility of transcendence through a meditation on the commonplace. By uncovering beauty in the mundane, a puddle in a driveway becomes a window to the heavens; the reflection of a ladder hints at man’s longing for a connection to heaven, his work demonstrates the chance discovery of meaning in everyday life. Sheesley, who has exhibited widely, teaches at Wheaton College.
