Ski-bop-ba-di-bop: It's Jazz Festival Time!

This weekend offers up one of the best opportunities to see dozens of world-class jazz performers—right in your own back yard.

The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival kicked off on Thursday afternoon with the high school invitational performances and continues through Sunday, Feb. 24, at  Hammerschmidt Chapel.

There is so much to see and hear at the 46th annual festival, with some of the country's best jazz talent converging on the Elmhurst College campus for four days of performances and education.

The festival gives high school and award-winning collegiate jazz ensembles the opportunity to perform in front of some of the greatest names in professional jazz, who offer their critique as well as awards. The professionals cap off each night with high-energy performances of their own.

For the audience, the entire weekend is great escape into a seemingly endless array of fine music at a price that won't break the bank.

World-class featured performers include the Grammy nominated Dave Douglas Quintet on Friday, Feb. 22, and keyboardist Bobby Floyd on Sunday, Feb. 24, to name just two.

Prices range from $10 to $35, and tickets are available online. Both day and evening performances will be held throughout the weekend. For more information, visit the Jazz Fest website.

If you do nothing else this weekend, stop by and check it out.
