Afternoon Tea with Jackie Kennedy Celebrates Style and Grace of America’s First Lady

Don't forget your pill box hat and gloves.

Jackie Kennedy set the bar high for first ladies of the modern era. The epitome of beauty, style and grace, she was an icon for women of the 1960s. To celebrate the legacy of Jackie Kennedy, the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation invites the community to Afternoon Tea with Jackie from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, 100 Drury Lane.

This elegant afternoon will feature a first-person performance by historian and Elmhurst resident Leslie Goddard as Jackie Kennedy. Guests will enjoy a delectable buffet of sweet and savory treats, and a special drawing will be held for a set of pearls. In addition, a selection of jewelry by the Prince’s Table in Glen Ellyn and whimsical silver-plate crafts by Phyllis Diegnau will be available for sale. Guests fond of Jackie’s trend-setting fashion are encouraged to wear a favorite hat. A prize will be offered for the best hat.

The cost for Afternoon Tea with Jackie is $40 for members of the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation, $50 for nonmembers, and tables of 10 may be reserved in advance.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Elmhurst Historical Museum at 630-833-1457 or visiting the foundation’s web site.

The mission of the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation is to stimulate broad-based support for the Elmhurst Historical Museum and Churchville Schoolhouse through advocacy, education and fund-raising.
