This Weekend, It's All About the Bunny, Honey

We've collected a little sampling of things to do with the family this weekend. Tell us what we missed in the comments.

It’s Thursday, and a big holiday weekend is right around the corner. The kids are out of school on Friday, it's Earth Day, everything is going all pink and purple for spring, and churches will be bustling with multiple Easter services. Here are a few suggestions for where to find the bunny, and other things to do. Please give us your suggestions in the comments.

1. 'AFRICAN CATS'

Where/When: 12:10, 2:20, 4:30, 6:40 and 8:50 p.m. Friday, April 22, at York Theatre, 150 N. York St.

Why Go: In honor of Earth Day, York Theatre will present Disneynature’s newest documentary for the whole family. "African Cats" captures the real-life love, humor and determination of the majestic kings of the savanna.

Price: Shows before 6 p.m. are $6, shows after 6 p.m. are $8.50, children and seniors are $6 all day.

2. ILLINOIS PRAIRIE PATH CLEANUP

Where/When: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23, at 530 S. York St. (at the Prairie Path)

Why Go: In celebration of Earth Day, Elmhurst Bicycle Task Force will organize volunteers to clean up trash along the Illinois Prairie Path. Trash bags will be provided by the Elmhurst Park District. Volunteers will meet at The Depot.

Price: Free

3. EASTER EGG HUNT

Where/When: 10 a.m. sharp on Saturday, April 23, at , 225 S. Prospect Ave.

Why Go: The Elmhurst Park District and the Veterans of Foreign Wars annual egg hunt for children ages 1-10. The Easter bunny will be available for pictures.

Price: Free

4. SPRING ROAD EGG HUNT

Where/When: 1 p.m. sharp on Saturday, April 23, at Spring Road and the Prairie Path

Why Go: This is sponsored by the Spring Road Business Association. Members will guide the youngsters toward a field filled with colorful candy-filled eggs. Once all the eggs are collected, children can march up and down Spring Road and search for store windows adorned with special Egg Hunt signs, a signal that visitors may receive a treat.

Price: Free

5. ECO FAMILY RAIN BARRELS

Where/When: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at 363 W. Commonwealth Lane

Why Go: The Elmhurst Park District will kick off its Eco Family class series with a workshop on the importance of rain barrels. Families will decorate their own, ready-to-install rain barrel and go on a nature walk. Check out Page 24 of the Park District brochure.

Price: $88 for residents, $110 for nonresidents
