There Is Definitely an App for That. Patch Announces New Free iPhone, iPad Download

An Android version of the app is also scheduled for release.

First, they gave you a way to add Patch to your smartphone home screen. Now, our tech wizards have an even easier way for Elmhurst residents to access Patch on the go.

Now available in the Apple app store, the free Patch application for iPhone launched Thursday, giving readers a way to stay connected with their community—and even change sites with ease to check out what’s happening in nearby Patches. The app is also available on the iPod Touch (third and fourth generation) and iPad.

And if you’re an Android user, there’s no need to feel left out: an Android version is set to launch soon.

Patch app features include:

  • The Front 5, allowing users to quickly access the most relevant stories of the day
  • The weather report and forecast
  • Community news, photos and videos
  • Events happening near you (just click to add them to your personal calendar)
  • Area business listings

The app also makes it easy for readers to interact with Patch by commenting, uploading photos to stories and business listings, and sharing their favorite content on Facebook. There’s even a way to send your thoughts on the app itself to Patch’s tech team.

Where’s the link to the app in the App Store?

The Front 5 is the first page to greet you on the iPhone app and contains the most relevant local news, events and editor tweets.

What is the Favorites feature?

We have built-in a feature that lets users cache any Patch content for offline viewing (in airports, subways, etc.). It’s a pretty neat interface!
