Stanley Cup in Elmhurst Saturday and Oak Brook Friday!

Elmhurst residents met Lord Stanley at Wilder Park and the York Tavern. Check out our photo gallery!

The Stanley Cup found its way to Wilder Park in Elmhurst Saturday afternoon.

Elmhurst photographer Clark Maxwell was with his children at Wilder Park, when he "bumped into The Stanley Cup."

"Best random day EVER," he said via email.

Maxwell said his kids were just playing in Wilder Park, when he saw it coming.

"I saw a group of six to eight people in Hawks jersies by Wilder Mansion," he said. "Then I saw it. You can spot that Cup from a mile away. I knew it was real as soon as I saw the case and the 'cup keeper,' which I recognized from NHL 36 films."

He said a professional photographer was there, and the people in the Hawks jerseys were posing with the Cup.

The photographer said they were "Blackhawks back office folks," Maxwell said. "After they finished, the Cup keeper graciously gave us time to take a couple quick pictures before the Stanley Cup was packed up to head to the next location."

The incident lasted all of 10 minutes or less, Maxwell said.

"It was an amazing random event."

Lisa Streator and Ken Harlev also just happened to be at Wilder Park at the right time, "to experience a moment we'll never forget," Lisa said by email.

"We thought it might be a replica, but when we asked, we were told it was the real deal. They were kind enough to let us be photographed with the cup," she said. "We're still giddie about it!"

The Cup also showed up at the York Tavern in Oak Brook—finally. A rumored appearance earlier last week ended in a no-show and left hundreds of Hawks fans feeling sad. But from we hear from Elmhurst residents who saw Stanley at The York Friday night, there were no hard feelings.
