Resident Finds a Warm Fire on a Frigid Day in Downtown Elmhurst

Unfortunately, it was a car fire.

Elmhurst resident Bill Trudeau captured this video of a car on fire near the Metra tracks in downtown Elmhurst Tuesday afternoon.

Some serious flames can be seen shooting out of the minivan's engine for what seems like forever before Elmhurst firefighters come and put it out. The flames ebb and flow, depending on the breeze, sometimes shooting up a foot or more. It all eventually ends with a firefighter's hose and a big billow of smoke.

Trudeau's video, which started after the fire ignited, is more than six minutes long. We're giving you the full six here (patience required while it loads), but we'll understand if you don't watch it all the way to the end.

No word on how the fire started, but thankfully no one was hurt. We can't help but feel for the owner of the minivan—and, for the girl standing on the corner the entire time with bare legs. Brrrrr.
