Petersons to Receive Award From District 205 Foundation

Award will be presented at Midnight Masquerade.

Elmhurst Unit District 205 Foundation will present its first Friends of the Foundation award to Doug and Cindy Peterson. The Friends of the Foundation award was created to celebrate and honor volunteerism in the Elmhurst Public Schools, as well as to recognize individuals who generously support the District 205 Foundation for Educational Excellence. 

Lifelong Elmhurst residents, Doug and Cindy have donated countless hours to the Elmhurst Public schools by serving as PTA presidents and active members of the York Drama and Athletic Boosters. Cindy served on the District 205 Foundation Board from 2003-2010 and she and Doug were dedicated supporters and sponsors of many of the foundation events during her tenure and remain so to this day.  

They were instrumental contributors to the , and Doug served on the advisory committee of both. In addition to their service to our schools, they have also held leadership positions in numerous community organizations, including United Community Concerns Association, , Elmhurst Children’s Theatre, Eagles Football, Cougars Baseball, Greenman Theatre Troupe and Board of Governors.

Their generosity and willingness to always lend a hand with a joyful spirit has made them an ideal choice to receive the award.  The Friends of the Foundation Award will be presented at the District 205 Foundation’s annual fund-raiser, Oct. 22 at .
