To celebrate Fire Prevention Week Oct. 6-12, Elmhurst Fire Department held an open house Sunday, Oct. 6, at Station #2 on South York Road.
Families got to check out demonstrations and the Fire Safety House education trailer, as well as see all of Elmhurst's emergency vehicles up close.
The highlight of the afternoon was a Superior Air Med 1 helicopter that landed and took off right next to the fire station.
Elmhurst sixth-grader Luke Eleniewski won a 20-inch bike from the Firefighters Union.
The theme this year was Prevent Kitchen Fires, the leading cause of home fires.
Thank you to John Eleniewski for providing the embedded video and photo.
