Have You Seen Men in Military Garb Acting Strangely in Elmhurst?

Elmhurst is getting a little more like Hollywood every day.

It looked like a war zone on the 400 block of Highland Avenue in Elmhurst today, Monday, Aug. 26. Men dressed in military garb, some of them lying on the ground and carrying "weapons," were running around the neighborhood at about 10 a.m. And, yes, there was some shooting going on, but not the scary kind.

Elmhurst resident Toni Hornacek-Wysopal snapped a photo, and shared it on Elmhurst Patch Facebook, with her observations.

"Military troops with guns—yikes! Looks like they are filming something," she said.

Indeed, Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth at around noon Monday confirmed that an independent filmmaker is shooting scenes in Elmhurst.

"They will be filming at different locations … over the next few days," he said.

We also heard a rumor that a cheese commercial was being filmed over on Parkview, and maybe Boyd, last Thursday and Friday, Aug. 22 and 23. Allegedly, no guns involved.

Is there any filming going on in your neighborhood? Let us know in the comments.
