Football, Festival, Fund-raiser and Fine Art; What's Not to Love About This Weekend?

York takes on Oak Park-River Forest in its homecoming game.

1. YORK HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME
Where/When:
7:30 p.m. Friday at , 355 W. St. Charles Road
Why Go: York takes on Oak Park-River Forest High School under the new lights for York's Homecoming game.
Cost: $4 for adults, $2 for students and children, free for York students with an activity pass

2. NEW TRADITIONS
Where/When: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday at , 150 S. Cottage Hill Ave.
Why Go: Works by renowned artists Carlos Cortez, John Culik, LeRoy Neiman, Leon Oks and Alex Yaworski are featured in a “New Traditions” art sponsored by the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild.  Over 20 pieces of contemporary art from the Guild’s permanent collection are included in the show.
Cost: Free.

3. SPRING ROAD DAY
Where/When:
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Wild Meadows Trace (Spring Road and the Prairie Path)
Why Go: Pony rides, petting zoo, moon jump and live music is a perfect fall activity for kids of all ages. And, , Elmhurst police and fire departments also will be on hand with their shiniest vehicles, and food will be provided by and . Visitors are encouraged to bring canned food to donate to needy families.
Cost: Free

4. WALK TO TALK
Where/When: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at , 493 N. Oaklawn Ave.
Why Go: A for the Center for Speech and Language Disorders, includes the walk, goodie bag, entertainment, kids' games and refreshments. Same-day registration is 8-9:45 a.m.
Cost: $20 in advance; $25 at event.

5. STARGAZING
Where/When: 7-10:30 p.m. Saturday at , 1s151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton.
Why Go: View planets and stars through various telescopes and learn how to identify star constellations with the naked-eye. Children will enjoy making their own colored sand keychain in the Visitors Center to take home. Viewing will take place on the Parade Field outside of the Visitors Center.
