Everyone Loves a Parade

There is also music, theater and toys over the long holiday weekend.

1. TOYS IN THE 'HOOD
Where/When: 1-5 p.m. daily at , 120 E. Park Ave.
Why Go: Find out how Chicago became an epicenter for invention and production, and see prototypes of some of the classic toys and games created in the Chicago area.
Cost: Free.

2. JOHN AVILA TRIO
Where/When: Friday night at , 112 W. Park Ave.
Why Go: The Trio plays classic instrumental jazz, blues, and standards.
Cost: No cover.

3. PRIVATE LIVES
Where/When: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at , 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn.
Why Go: Buffalo Theatre Ensemble's performance of Noel Coward's witty about rekindled relationships.
Cost: $23-$33.

4. VIOLIN ROMANCE
Where/When: 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook.
Why Go: concertmaster Rika Seko and music director Stephen Alltop, in the final concert in the Elmhurst Symphony Musicians at Mayslake Series.
Cost: $25; students $7.

5. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Where/When: 9:30 a.m. Monday at North York Street and West Third Street
Why Go: The proceeds to the Elmhurst Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park.
