Evening Metra Trains Canceled Due to Weather

Metra is continuously updating trains' status on its website.

Metra has canceled more than two dozen trains this evening because of continued hazardous weather conditions, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Trains may experience delays due to climate-related speed restrictions. Metra is working to utilize all possible measures available to combat extraordinary weather conditions, according to a service alert posted on the Metra website

The Union Pacific West Line, which runs through Elmhurst, has been affected.

  • 5:32 p.m. Outbound Trains #47 and #49 have not departed.
  • 4:59 p.m. Outbound Trains #2225 And #2241 will not be operating this evening.
  • 4:56 p.m. Outbound Train #45 scheduled to arrive in Geneva at 5:47 p.m. —a 20 to 30 minute delay.
Metra is encouraging passengers to plan for extra travel time to assure a "safe passage to and from your destination," according to the service alert.
