Enjoy a Great Weekend Outdoors

Walk the gardens, see Bulls at the zoo or enjoy Christmas in July. Summer doesn't last forever, you know.

We’ve got the best bets for when the work week is over and you're  and ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

1. GAMES AROUND THE WORLD & WORLD'S FAIR CARNIVAL
Where/When: Games Around the World is from 1 to 1:45 or from 2:30 to 3:15 Friday, and is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave.
Why Go: Travel around the world with Kidworks Touring Theatre on Friday. Kick up your heels to the Mexican Hat Dance, bow to the Queen of England, and parade under a Chinese Dragon. And on Saturday, put on your globetrotting shoes for a carnival of international fun with games, crafts, and tales from all over. 
Cost: Free

2. GARDEN WALK AND FAIRE
Where/When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at , 225 S Prospect Ave.
Why Go: presents its 16th annual Garden Walk and Faire, featuring seven gardens. Visitors begin the walk by redeeming or buying their tickets and obtaining a garden guide at the Garden Club booth in Wilder Park. Visitors may also visit Wilder Park Conservatory and gardens, which includes a Shakespearean herb garden. An a la carte luncheon will be available in Wilder Mansion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the Garden Walk benefit the Mildred Hartney College Scholarship Fund and community horticulture projects.
Cost: $20.

3. CHRISTMAS IN JULY
Where/When: 1-5 p.m. Sunday at , 463 Schiller St.
Why Go: There will be a variety of Reindeer games, a trivia contest, and a visit from Santa. DJ Stevie D will be there to set the mood with Christmas music.
Cost: Free to pass holders.

4. SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT
Where/When: 8 p.m. Saturday at , 1s151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton.
Why Go: Maestro Peter Lipari conducts the West Suburban Orchestra in "," a concert for all ages, featuring opera and movie music inspired by the animal kingdom. Picnics, blankets and chairs welcome for this lawn seating concert.
Cost: $15.

5. REAL FAN DAYS
Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at , 3300 Golf Rd., Brookfield.
Why Go:  will have the chance to meet players from the Chicago Bulls, along with the team mascot, among other events.
Cost: zoo admission price
