Elmhurst Weather: Monday P.M. Rush Might Include Snow; Rain Possible Thursday

Temperatures will be below freezing for the start of this week but will get warmer as week goes on. Only 93 days until spring.

Elmhurst will slowly emerge from Sunday's deep freeze, but not without the chance for a "quick burst of snow" on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

In a special weather statement for the Chicago area, including DuPage County, the NWS said, "This fast-moving disturbance" may only last two or three hours, but amounts of up to 2 inches are possible in some areas to the north.

"The main concern will be an adverse impact on the afternoon rush hour, including in the Chicago metro, with moderate or briefly heavy snow occurring. ... Forecasters will continue to monitor the track of the system as the location of the heaviest snow may shift prior to Monday afternoon," according to the statement.

After a low of 6 degrees on Sunday, temperatures should reach 21 on Monday; 32 on Tuesday, with a 30 percent chance of snow; 32 on Wednesday, with partly cloudy skies; and 37 on Thursday, with a chance of rain. The 30s are expected to continue through Saturday.
