Elmhurst College Jazz Festival is This Weekend

But that's not all. In addition to a ton of great jazz, mix it up with live music from the Fab Four at Fitz's, show tunes at Bethel, the Green Scene fund-raiser and art—all right here in town.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

1. JAZZ FESTIVAL
Where/When: All weekend long at Hammerschmidt Chapel, , 190 S Prospect Ave.
Why Go:  The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival is a premium jazz event that's been around for decades. The best college jazz bands in the country converge on Elmhurst College for an opportunity to perform and learn from jazz greats. The pros cap off each night of the festival with a rousing performance. Highlights this year include a Friday performance by , of Matt Wilson’s Arts & Crafts, one of the most inventive and individualistic drummers in modern music, and a Saturday featured performance by the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. 2. ART PREMIERE RECEPTION
Where/When: 7-9 p.m. Friday at , 150 S Cottage Hill Ave.
Why Go: Contemporary artworks by  from 14 states and Canada are featured in National Art Premiere 2011 by the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild, on display to March 30. The museum is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Fridays. Refreshments are planned for the reception.
Pricing: Free.

3. AMERICAN ENGLISH
Where/When: 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at Fitz's Spare Keys, 119 N York St.

4. BOOSTER FUNDRAISER
Where/When: 7 p.m. Saturday at , 681 W North Ave.
Why Go: It's the Booster Club's annual Green Scene fund-raiser and silent auction. York athletes and coaches rely on Boosters to provide funding for equipment and athletic needs for all boys and girls sports.  The silent auction is made up of donated goods and services from local businesses and supporters.
Pricing: $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

5. MEDLEY OF MELODIES
Where/When: 7 p.m. Saturday at , 315 E Saint Charles Rd.
Why Go: will perform choruses and solos from opera, Broadway and Glee.
Pricing: Free-will donations will be taken, proceeds benefit choral union programs.
