Bensenville Resident Running Elmhurst ALS Fundraiser to Memorialize Husband

The "Tag Day" fundraiser is planned for Elmhurst on May 18.

A Bensenville resident who lost her husband to Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) five months ago will spearhead a “Tag Day” fundraiser in Elmhurst to benefit the Les Turner ALS Foundation, according to a release posted in on the Chicago Tribune website.

According to the release, Ninfa Queyquep’s husband Eric was diagnosed in 2009 and passed away in December 2012; in his memory, she has organized the effort in which volunteers will be collecting for the Foundation at high-visibility areas throughout Elmhurst on May 18.

“We are very blessed to have a strong support system of friends and family who were there for us at every step during the course of Eric’s disease,” Queyquep said in a release.. “We were appreciative of their attention, and also the healthcare professionals because this is a difficult disease to face without support and guidance. Eric was an inspiration to all of us as he engaged in life as best he could, even during his final days.”
