Animals Break Out Their Fur Coats for a Brisk Walk Up the Parade Route Saturday

Claws and paws take to the streets at the 23rd annual Spring Road Pet Parade.

A brisk wind and misty rain didn't keep pets and their owners from enjoying the 23rd annual Spring Road Pet Parade Saturday.

Before the parade, kids enjoyed a free moon jump, pet portraits, bike decorating and face painting.

At 1 p.m. sharp, everything from dogs to bunnies to hamsters took to the street, alongside dozens of decorated bicycles.

The parade, sponsored by the Spring Road Business Association and the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, also served as a collection spot for the Yorkfield Food Pantry.

Following the parade, residents showed the crowd what their pets can do. Dogs danced, caught things and gave hugs. But it wasn't just the canines that got into the act—even a turtle and bunny performed a trick or two.
