And the Winner Is ...

York Theatre awards winner of the Predict the Oscars contest.

The ballots are in, and the Grand Prize Winner has been selected for Classic Cinemas annual Predict the Oscars contest. Mount Prospect resident Gayle Silverman won the contest at York Theatre, 150 N. York St.

Silverman takes home the top prize of free movies for two for an entire year at any Classic Cinemas theatre location, along with a dinner certificate valued at $200, good at any of the 21 Chicagoland Francesca's restaurants. Having celebrated her birthday on March 12, Silverman said it was the best birthday gift she has ever received.

“I am so thrilled! I absolutely love movies, and I may even go to Francesca’s for a celebratory birthday dinner,” she said.

This year, 5,605 ballots were cast to predict the Oscar winners in seven categories:  Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Animated Film. Each Classic Cinemas theatre selected one winner from ballots entered at that location. The remaining 12 second-place winners each received one movie pass for the entire year and two passes to Brookfield Zoo. Additionally, every correct entry received one pair of movie tickets valid at any Classic Cinemas location and two passes to the Brookfield Zoo.

Silverman and her boyfriend really enjoy going to the movies.

“We love all types of movies especially action-packed films, romantic comedies, and science fiction,” she said.

Silverman did not have a chance to see the entire lineup of Oscar nominated films, but of the nominees she did see, "Inception" was her favorite,

“I saw 'Inception' twice and would see it again,” she said. “We are really looking forward to seeing 'Black Swan' and 'The King’s Speech' with our new movie pass."
