Mariano's Donates $5,000 to Elmhurst District 205 Foundation

Elmhurst District 205 Foundation for Educational Excellence received a $5,000 donation from Mariano’s at its Grand Opening Gala in Elmhurst June 24. Roundy’s, the parent corporation of Mariano’s, is committed to supporting and partnering with community organizations in the cities where its supermarkets operate.

“It gives me great pleasure to provide this donation to the Elmhurst District 205 Foundation in support of the Study Skills Academy," said Bob Mariano, Chairman and CEO of Roundy's. "At Roundy’s, one of our top priorities is to become a force for good in the communities in which we serve, and one way we do that is by supporting top-notch organizations that are already making a real difference.”

Mariano’s donation will go toward the foundation’s Study Skills Academy. All elementary and middle schools in District 205 are eligible to receive funds from the foundation to operate a program to support students identified as needing additional academic support. In addition to the Study Skills program, the foundation funds its signature STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) initiative, which provides NOVA5000 devices for middle school students and the Thiems Grants Program. Seventeen grants totaling more than $27,000 have been awarded in 2013.
