Kari Levine and Erica Sumner, residents of Elmhurst, served up food to residents of Deborah’s Place, Chicago, during a holiday visit to the housing facility. Deborah’s Place offers a warm bed and meals to women as a way to help break the cycle of homelessness. Levine and Sumner are part of the philanthropic group, Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Significant Others, or “MORSO.” The group consists mostly of the wives of physicians at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR). MORSO provided a hot meal and distributed necessary toiletries and household items to the facility’s residents. The MOR spouses also played Bingo and visited with Deborah’s Place residents. MORSO is an organization with a goal of helping families in need.
Deborah’s Place is Chicago’s largest provider of supportive housing exclusively for women and is recognized as an innovative leader among homeless service providers locally and nationally.
