Bethel United Church of Christ Celebrates With Two Special Worship Services in May

On Sunday, May 4, Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst will host nationally-known Christian singer/songwriter Bryan Sirchio at its end-of-the Sunday School year celebration.  A United Church of Christ minister, Sirchio began his “Crosswinds” musical ministry in 1987 and has given over a thousand concerts throughout the U.S. in churches of many different denominations.  He is the composer of dozens of songs for all ages, expressing his personal faith but also focusing on issues of justice, peace, hunger, poverty, and the environment, often with a dash of humor and whimsy.  Members of the community are invited to hear this inspiring performance, interact with Bryan Sirchio, and join the Bethel family at a special “Bugs for Lunch” coffee hour in Bethel’s welcome center following worship, featuring a surprise treat for everyone to enjoy.  Sirchio's song, "Bugs for Lunch," is a favorite of his audiences.

On Sunday, May 11, Bethel will celebrate its annual spring Music Sunday, featuring the church’s adult voice choir under the direction of Minister of Music Jeffrey Panko and the adult bell choir under the direction of Linda Lunt, as well as soloists.  The theme for Music Sunday is “And This Shall Be For Music,” and the musicians will offer both traditional and contemporary sacred works as the “sermon” for the morning worship service.   Everyone is invited to attend both services, which begin at 10:00 a.m.  Bethel is located at 315 E. St. Charles Rd. in Elmhurst .  Parking is available and the church is handicapped-accessible.  For more information call 630-279-4040 .  Bethel is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ.
