Why: According to Northern Illinois Food Bank, food donations slow down significantly after the first of the year.  In fact, donations are typically down by more than half in January.  PIX 5D Cinema understands the ongoing need to curtail hunger across the Chicagoland area and will donate all canned food items to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

About the 5D Cinema Experience:

Owned and operated by local resident Anand Shanmugan, PIX 5D Cinema is Chicagoland’s first 5D experience and Woodfield Mall’s newest attraction.  With 36 seats, the intimate theatre addresses all the senses with 12-15 minute movie shorts, including action, classic and thriller genres.  Each show features two movie shorts and is appropriate for all ages.  Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $6 for children under the age of 11.

The 5D cinema combines 3D with physical and environmental effects for an ultimate theatre experience. The seats at the theatre are 3 Degree of Freedom or DOF, which allows up and down, front and back, left and right movement in sync with the onscreen activity.  All senses are awakened during the attraction as well, including feeling and smell, which is achieved by using a variety of environmental effects.  These effects depend on the film’s storyline, but can include smoke, fog, bubbles, thunder, storm, wind, rain, snow and more.  For more information, visit:  www.pix5d.com
