Strong Individual Efforts Push York Girls Swim & Dive Past RBHS

Strong performances lead York to victory in home dual meet opener.

York Girls’ Swim and Dive opened at home in convincing fashion with a win over Riverside-Brookfield Thursday at York Aquatic Center.  The varsity scored 153 to 50 in the home dual.  

The session concluded with a 400 freestyle relay performance that put the final exclamation point on outcome: York sophomore Maggie Schlecht (57.03), senior Perri Brinkmeier (57.76), senior Hannah Nolte (55.72), junior Jessica Woolfe (55.79) 3:46.30

In the York, Riverside-Brookfield HS meet the individual varsity event winners were:

200 freestyle: Woolfe (York) 2:04.45;

200 medley: junior Hannah Flynn (RBHS) 2:28.05;

diving:  junior Leah Young (York) 151.80;

50 freestyle:  Schlecht (York) 26.07; 

100 butterfly: sophomore Sarina Kao (York) 1:09.30;

100 freestyle:  H. Nolte (York) 55.93;

500 freestyle:  junior Allison Brodt (York) 5:29.50;

100 backstroke: Brinkmeier (York) 1:07.04;

100 breaststroke: senior Juliana Reinhofer (York) 1:16.10.

York swept the 100 breaststroke winning the first three spots with Kirsten Rasnic and Paige Wrasse going second and third. York also took the top three spots in the 50 freestyle with Brinkmeier and Paige Jaeger completing the sweep. York swept the top three diving spots as Katie Fischer finished second with Anna Kirschbaum showing third.  And York took the top three place points in the 100 butterfly with Paula Nolte in second and Amalia Siavelis third.

York’s Sam Marlott took second in the 200 IM, Winona Asher finished second in the 100 backstroke, Lydia Faber placed second in the 100 freestyle and  Maddie Kliebhan  was second in the 200 freestyle. 

York’s relay teams got the home meet off to a solid start with a winning time 1:57.10 in the 200 medley relay by Woolfe,  P. Nolte, junior Katie Sullivan and H. Nolte.  

And the 200 freestyle relay posted a winning time of 1:43.9: Woolfe (25.79), Schlecht (25.98) junior Paige Jaeger(26.67), H. Nolte(25.51)

York hosts perennial power Downers Grove North Thursday.
