Elk Grove Village, IL – Elmhurst Swim Team athletes had spectacular results at the 34th Annual Speedo Winter Splash held at Elk Grove High School.  Eighty three swimmers from EST competed against a dozen other regional swim teams in this highly competitive Speedo meet.  Of the 83 EST swimmers, 76 of them set personal bests in at least one of their swim events in the competition, a remarkable 92% rate for the competition.

For the weekend there were over 100 top ten finishes by EST swimmers.   A dozen of those were first place results.

Taking championship honors for EST were:

Nicole DeMare – 1st 50 freestyle  and 1st 50 butterfly – Women 10 and Under

Sophia Locasio – 1st 50 backstroke – Women 8 and Under

Sarah Grivetti – 1st 25 butterfly – Women 8 and Under

Connor Groya – 1st 25 butterfly – Men 8 and Under

There were over a dozen second place and almost two dozen third place finishes by EST swimmers too.

“Our Elmhurst Swim Team swimmers looked great at the Winter Splash as they prepare for the Conference and State Series meets in February” said Head Coach Dave Davis.  “ Swimmers that have been training hard since September are preparing to finish strong this year.”

Coming up this weekend is the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis, in which 40 Elmhurst Swim Team athletes have qualified, a record number of qualifiers for this national meet at the IUPIU Natatorium January 25 – 27.
