Adoptable Pet of the Week: Sherborn!

Sherborn, a 1-year-old beagle/Australian cattle dog mix, is looking for his forever home.

Information provided by Elmhurst Animal Care Center.

Meet Sherborn! His foster mom calls him Sherbie. He is about 1 year old and a mix of Beagle (don’t you just love his ears?) and Australian Cattle dog. Everyone gives him a second look because he has the coolest eyes—probably the cattle dog in him. One is blue (his spirit eye) and the other is brown with a notch of blue.

He really likes his toys and has learned to play fetch. His foster mom tells him to release the ball, and he usually does. He loves to run and jump around the yard with his foster family. One of his brothers is a little cranky, but he pays him no mind.

He knows how to ask to go outside. He has marked a few times on the old carpeting, but there were many before him who left their mark, so he just thought it was ok. He hasn’t messed in his crate or in the main area of the house.

When his foster mom goes out, he goes in his crate. He really doesn’t like to go in there so he cries a little. If he is the only one home, he really doesn’t like it.

He has this new game called “catch me.” He has an ear infection and his foster mom has to put medicine in his ear, so he runs around the house until she catches him. He is working on his manners. He loves to jump on people and jump up to see what is on the counters, but he does know how to sit.

Do you have room in your heart and home for Sherborn?  Do you have a fenced yard that he can run and play fetch in? He can jump over the baby gates without any problems, so a taller fence would be better. Do you have any children? He just love kids and is very gentle with them. He doesn’t know about cats. He has only seen them in crates or at the store. Do you have another dog that he can play with? He would really benefit from having a sibling.

He got all of his shots and is neutered. He will get a microchip after he is adopted (no charge). Adoption cost is $200. For more information, call Nancy, his foster mom, at (630) 554-5469.
