Get a Book With Your Berries, Meet Tammy Duckworth and More

Yes, Wednesdays are jam-packed in Elmhurst.

Wednesdays are arguably the busiest, most entertaining, fun-filled and informative days in Elmhurst—especially during the summertime. We already are familiar with Cool Cars and Block-to-Block musical entertainment in City Centre on Wednesdays, but check out what else is going on in town Aug. 7:

Elmhurst Public Library at the Farmers Market

Bring your Elmhurst Public Library card to Elmhurst Farmers Market at York and Vallette Wednesday and check out books from the library's seasonal selections while perusing veggies. Library staff is getting up early for this one. They'll be there from the time the market opens at 7 a.m. until closing time at 1 p.m.

District 205 Curriculum and Instruction Committee

On the committee's agenda is an update on the English Language Learners program and school choice, among other things. Students at Conrad Fischer School will have the opportunity to attend Jefferson School this fall because Fischer did not make adequate yearly progress according to the federal No Child Left Behind law, and Jefferson School did. The committee meets at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building, 162 S. York.
