DESCRIPTION:Joan Truckenbrod\, a professor in the art and technology depa
rtment at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, is considered a p
ioneer in digital art. Her video sculptures juxtapose video narrative an
d sculptural objects to probe indigenous rituals and ceremonies embedded
in the digital realm.\nElmhurst College will host Truckenbrod&rsquo\;s
video sculpture exhibit Errant Particles at the Barbara A. Kieft Acceler
ator ArtSpace through March 15.\nTruckenbrod&rsquo\;s work engages invis
ible and visible phenomena from the natural world with contemporary soci
al patterns. Her video imagery is projected onto handmade objects that a
ctivate their unique stories and highlight traces of invisible ritual be
haviors.\n&ldquo\;In these video installations\, I create personal space
s that embody shifts from one realm or dimension to another\,&rdquo\; Tr
uckenbrod says in her artist&rsquo\;s statement. &ldquo\;They are charge
d spaces symbolizing transformative experiences such as rites of passage
with radical shifts in societal context. I am inspired by indigenous cu
ltures whose lives are intimately intertwined with the natural world.&rd
quo\;\nShe has exhibited her artwork in Chicago\, New York\, London\, Pa
ris and Berlin and is currently working on a book\, The Paradoxical Obje
ct: Video Film Sculpture\, which is scheduled to be published later this
year by Black Dog Publishers in London.\n&ldquo\;Joan Truckenbrod&rsquo
\;s work is cutting-edge. Her unique form of expression represents the b
est in contemporary practice\,&rdquo\; says Suellen Rocca\, curator and
director of exhibits. &ldquo\;This exhibit offers a rare opportunity to
 see this highly inventive work.&rdquo\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp
 \;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\nErrant Particles will run
through March 15 in the Barbara A. Kieft Accelerator ArtSpace\, in the 2
00 block of Walter Street behind the Mill Theatre. Viewing hours are noo
 n to 4 p.m. on Tuesday\, Thursday and Saturday. &nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nb
sp\;\nElmhurst College hosts about 12 art shows each year in three campu
s venues. In addition\, the College&rsquo\;s A.C. Buehler Library perman
