Bryan Middle School was named after Thomas Barbour Bryan, who is widely considered the father of Elmhurst, having been the first person to purchase land in Elmhurst in the mid 1800s. Bryan, one of three middle schools in Elmhurst, educates students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades and provides plenty of extracurricular activities as well, including intramurals, drama, music and yearbook. The principal is Brad Hillman. The schoolgrounds also include a softball field, complete with an electronic scoreboard donated by York Booster Club.
