A hard-bitten private eye in Los Angeles in 1932. His loyal secretary. His partner who doesn't seem to have his back. His ex-wife who frightens everyone. Add mobsters, their molls, a priceless diamond, police officers with agendas, showgirls, a movie studio chief looking for talent, a mailman who makes unexpected deliveries, staff of local clipjoint The Coconut Lounge, and two visitors from the deep South looking to make their Hollywood dreams come true to the mix and you have the basis for GreenMan Theatre's original production Smoking Gun by Carl Zeitler and Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff.


This fun and interactive production parodies classic film noirs and provides a full-course meal, songs, dances, and a chance for the audience members to vote on who they think committed the crime. The audience is also encouraged to dress in the style of the 1930's, though it's not a requirement to attend. Audience members who correctly guess the culprit have a shot to win a prize, as well as those who wear the most creative costumes.

Smoking Gun is held in the banquet hall at Angelo's Ristorante at 247 N. York in Elmhurst. The show runs for five performances on February 22, 23, and March 1, 2, and 3. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 PM with an interactive social hour with cash bar as well as cast members in character mingling with audience members beginning at 6 PM. The Sunday show begins at 6 PM and the social hour starts at 5 PM. Advance registration is required and tickets are $50. The fee includes the dinner and show; it helps GreenMan fund productions throughout the season. Free parking is available.
