Performance: York Cadet and Concert Orchestra
Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 7:30 PM, the York Community High School Music Department will present performances by the York Cadet and Concert Orchestras. The concert will feature a variety of music including selections from the Harry Potter movies. Featured soloists include violinists Mary Margaret Koch, Gloria Franks and Maddie Walenga, Meg Grasse on viola, Liz Pronove and Zofia Kaminski on cello, Wes Nelson on bass and Rachel Iverson on trumpet. The orchestras are directed by Ray Ostwald, assisted by Devon Reedy, a student teacher from the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. The performance is in Baker Auditorium at York High School.
Admission is: $5 adults, $2 seniors/students; free to York students, District 205 staff, seniors with Very Important Patron (VIP) privileges, children under 6, and Patron Pass holders. York High School underwent a major restoration and expansion after Elmhurst residents approved a $70 million referendum in 2000. The new York High School, which includes a 59,000-square-foot field house, was dedicated March 14, 2004.
