Performance: York Cadet and Concert Orchestra

Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 7:30 PM, the York Community High School Music Department will present performances by the York Cadet and Concert Orchestras. The concert will feature a variety of music including selections from the Harry Potter movies. Featured soloists include violinists Mary Margaret Koch, Gloria Franks and Maddie Walenga, Meg Grasse on viola, Liz Pronove and Zofia Kaminski on cello, Wes Nelson on bass and Rachel Iverson on trumpet. The orchestras are directed by Ray Ostwald, assisted by Devon Reedy, a student teacher from the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. The performance is in Baker Auditorium at York High School.

Admission is: $5 adults, $2 seniors/students; free to York students, District 205 staff, seniors with Very Important Patron (VIP) privileges, children under 6, and Patron Pass holders. Call 630-617-2400 x 7296 for more information. VIP passes are available to anyone age 60 or older who reside within District 205 boundaries. To receive a VIP pass, please contact the Communications and Public Relations Office at 640-941-4719. Remember to check the Show Time! Fine Arts Schedule for 2011-12 play and concert events at York High School, as well as Bryan, Churchville and Sandburg Middle Schools.

York High School underwent a major restoration and expansion after Elmhurst residents approved a $70 million referendum in 2000. The new York High School, which includes a 59,000-square-foot field house, was dedicated March 14, 2004.

In addition to a robust selection of classes and extracurricular activities, York offers a comprehensive college and career resource center, Peer to Peer Tutoring program and freshmen mentor program.
