Elmhurst - Put on your most-seasoned aprons. Hamburger Jones, 551 S. York St., Elmhurst's hottest new restaurant is hosting a chili cook-offon Sunday Jan. 27, from 12:00-3:00 with proceeds benefitting Kickoff for Kids.
Does your chili have what it takes to capture the prize? Bring your chili masterpiece in a minimum 5-quart crock pot or slowcooker and let the competition begin. Best in Show wins a $100 HB Jones gift card, Most Unique wins a $50 HB Jones gift card andif you like it hot, a $25 gift card goes to the recipe with the biggest kick.
Just want to watch from the sidelines? The event is open to all adults, 21 years and over. For $40,those attending, will enjoy chili, mini burgers, fries and an open bar. Cook-off participants pay $25.Visit kickoffforkids.org for more information, to purchase tickets, and to enter cook-off. Entry deadline is Jan. 23.

I am thankful for business owners like HB Jones owner Tony Gambino for stepping up in the community. He is a great example of someone who goes above and beyond to help out local charities. I wish there were more people like him in Elmhurst!
