August 25 – “Fossil Collecting Field Trip”
Travel by motor coach to Irene Quarry in Belvidere, Illinois. Collect Ordovician Period (450 million years old) marine fossils in dolomite. Collectable fossils include: brachiopods, cephalopods, corals, crinoids, gastropods, snails and more.
Field Trip – Ages 8 yrs. to Adult – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Joseph F. Lizzadro, Sr. founded the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art in 1962. It features a collection of minerals, hard stone carvings, and rocks along with its collection of jade. The museum also houses a Florentine Mosaic, Diorama, Roman Mosaic, a Multi-colored Ewer, Jadeite and Nephrite. Group tours, private rentals, and museum memberships are available at costs.
