Explore Quaint, Beautiful Lake Geneva At Winterfest

ELMHURST, Ill. – Lake Geneva is hosting their 18th annual Winterfest event on Friday, February 1 and we’re heading there to beat the winter blues!  Our first stop will be lunch at Sprecher’s, where you’ll have a choice of chicken pot pie, pesto pasta, or beer-battered fish.  Each meal comes with your choice of soup or salad as well as tea, coffee or fountain soda.  After lunch we’ll head to Riviera Park to watch the U.S. National snow sculptors in action and we’ll have time to visit the shops in town.  Please choose your entrée when registering.  Fee is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents, and includes transportation and lunch.  This is a cooperative trip with the Glen Ellyn Park District, and registration deadline is January 11.

Sign up today!  For more information or to register, call (630) 993-8193 or visit www.epd.org.

The Abbey property has always been a gathering place, even back in the 1940s when teen-agers held social events there. In 1952, the present facility was built and named the Youth Center. But since about 1974, the Park District has designated the facility as a gathering place for active older adults age 50 and older. Activities held at The Abbey include classes, parties, club meetings, games, and gatherings for driver safety and financial assistance. Primarily, it provides a social environment that encourages new friendships and healthy activities. The 2010 fee for annual membership is $20 for residents, $30 for nonresidents, and includes free bingo, a $5 discount on monthly luncheons and The Abbey newsletter.
