DESCRIPTION:Recently back from a tour of Italy and Russia with the Chicag
 o Symphony Orchestra\, John Hagstrom will perform as a special guest sol
 oist for the York Symphonic Band&rsquo\;s spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Th
 ursday\, May 3\, at York's Baker Auditorium.\nHagstrom\, second chair tr
 umpet player with the CSO\, is a York High School graduate.\nHe will per
 form Trumpet Concerto in E Flat by 18th century Czech composer Johann Ba
 ptist Georg Neruda. Although this is a standard in the trumpet solo repe
 rtoire\, it is traditionally heard with orchestral or piano accompanimen
 t. On Thursday\, the audience will hear a transcription of the piece wri
 tten especially for wind band\, which has only been performed one other 
 time\, at Northern Illinois University with NIU professor of trumpet Dr.
  Mark Ponzo.\nOver the past several years\, York has enjoyed several int
 eractions with Hagstrom and has benefitted greatly from his expertise\, 
 experience and desire to give back to the school district that fostered 
 his love for music at an early age.
