First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst invites the community to join them on Wednesday, February 13 for an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7:00 p.m. The evening worship service signals the beginning of the Lenten season with the traditional “imposition” or marking of ashes. Adults and children of all faiths are welcome to receive ashes, says First Church pastor Dr. Norma Lee Barnhart.

Founded in 1924, First United is one of Elmhurst's oldest congregations, with more than 400 members. The church hosts a number of adult and children's events, funds mission trips and offers two worship services, at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m.
