Long-awaited Kitchen Eatery is Open for Business at St. Charles and Route 83

Parking lot was bustling this week with diners eager to try comfort food "with a twist" in a modern, mid-century environment.

It took longer than expected, but Kitchen Eatery is now open for business. What started out as a cosmetic re-do of the old Kopper Kitchen restaurant at St. Charles and Route 83 became a major overhaul of the building, leaving it looking nothing like its predecessor.  Kitchen Eatery operating manager Chris Conglis and his partners, Tom Samatas and John Pappas, found out quickly that the old building would need a complete redesign to achieve the goals and standards they set for the place.   "All those things you hope don't happen, happened," Conglis said. The concrete floors were cracked, with air pockets, and they collapsed. That led to the need to pour new floors. All new electrical and plumbing fixtures were installed. They had to add …

Delighted to hear it was open but sadly we went today Saturday at 12noon and they were closed. We asked why as there were people seated and were told 'we ran out of food'. Elmhurst's Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony Will Honor Those Who Gave The Ultimate Sacrifice

Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. Monday, with a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park to follow.

Do you ever wonder what Elmhurst was like 95 years ago? The Wilder family still owned the Wilder Mansion, trains on the Great Western Railway chugged through town. Think about the cars and clothing and celebrations in 1918—like the city's first Memorial Day Parade. World War I was just ending, after all. Ninety-five years later, the parade is still a significant event for Elmhurst families, who come out to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service to our country. At this year's celebration, thoughts will not only be with all those lost, but also with our servicemen and women currently serving in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world. More than 80 entries are signed up to march this year. They will be led by U.S. Army Lt…
